Elementary School Students Win Prestigious State Awards

SAT Course Starts Oct. 2nd!
      If test scores on the new SAT tests are important to you or someone you know, then now is the time to sign up for the review course being sponsored by Continuing Education. The review course starts on Tuesday, Oct. 2nd at the High School. The class time is from 6:30 to 9:30 PM. Please sign up in advance.

Homecoming Bake Sale
      We've collected the shirts, folded them, boxed them and now please help us send them. We are having a bake sale to raise money so we can ship the T-shirts to the less fortunate children in Kenya. So go to Grand Union on 7th Street at the Homecoming Parade on Saturday, Sept. 29th and buy some of our baked goods.

Stratford Students Win Prize For Story
      A one-of-a-kind book entitled Just One Can created last year by Leigh Dowden's fifth- grade class at Stratford School has won second place in the NYS Senate's 17th Annual I'm A Green Nation contest. NYS Senator Kemp Hannon an-nounced the winners this summer. The Garden City School Board viewed the book and met with students at the September School Board meeting.

Special Presentation Augments Study of Native Americans
      Fourth-grade students at Stratford and Stewart schools took an in-house field trip this month to the world that the Indians of the Eastern Woodlands inhabited long before the arrival of European explorers.

GCHS Students Make Miracles
      More than 125 Garden City High School students, siblings and alumni were reunited on Saturday, June 2nd to participate in the 7th annual Miracle Miles Walk-a-thon. The event, which was organized by club members, is held annually to honor Garden City's Miracle Foundation Founder, Michael J. Tenaglia.
