Police arrested a 23-year-old Hempstead man for an outstanding warrant for consuming alcohol while driving, at the GCRR station, on June 13...Between June 9 and 12, thieves took over $3925 in jewelry out of a dorm room at Adelphi University... On June 13, PO Matos and PO Hudak, participated in a truck stop, where 18 trucks were inspected, 5 trucks were taken out of service, and 62 tickets were issued...Also that day, a 30-year-old Rosedale man was arrested for allegedly speeding at 52 in a 30, tinted windows, expired inspection, expired registration, no insurance, at Franklin Avenue...On June 17, a 28-year-old Central Islip man was alleged DWI (. 17%) on Clinton Rd. He was charged with 2 counts of aggravated unlicensed operation 2nd degree and 3 counts of aggravated unlicensed operation 1st degree...On June 15, someone ransacked the master bedroom of a New Hyde Park Road house and stole over $9,600 in jewelry and a computer...Between June 12 and 16, someone took a $350 Rally mountain bike from an unlocked shed at Roxbury Road... A man described as Afro-American, 35 years old, with a medium build, wearing a baseball cap, tee shirt and baggy pants, entered Commerce Bank at 855 Franklin Avenue on June 15, and handed a teller a note requesting money. The man then fled the bank traveling northbound from field 9E... Someone took a radio valued at $120 from an unlocked parked car in a driveway at Devereaux Place on June 15... On June 14, a 42-year-old Northport woman was charged with contempt 2nd degree after she violated an order of protection issued to a Garden City resident... On June 18, a 26-year-old Hempstead woman allegedly stole $158 in merchandise, which included underwear, sunglasses, a Polo dress, 2 infant dresses, and a silver necklace, at Sears...

There was an odor of natural gas in the vicinity of Fifteenth Street, on June 12 and it was later learned that Keyspan was in the area...FD used a booster and 50 gallons of water to extinguish a rubbish fire at 233 Seventh Street on June 15... Steam from pacifiers being sterilized activated an alarm at Chestnut Street on June 18... A propane tank had been leaking at an Osborne Rd. house on June 18 and when the FD arrived they advised the occupant to store the tank in a shadier location...That's all this week. G. T.
