Ocean Conservation Exhibit
The library will feature an ocean conservation exhibit July 1 through July 30.
The Blue Ocean Institute will exhibit information to promote ocean conservation at the Garden City Library from July 1 to 30. Books by author Dr. Carl Safina, which inspire a closer relationship with the sea, will be showcased.
Exhibits are free and open to the public during regular library hours. For hours and directions call (516) 742-8405. Funding for exhibits is provided by Friends of the Garden City Public Library. Installation and removal dates are subject to change.
Dr. Carl Safina, president and co-founder of Blue Ocean Institute, wrote the award-winning non-fiction book "Song for the Blue Ocean." He is also author of "Eye of the Albatross." "Voyage of the Turtle," and co-author of "Seafood Lover's Almanac." Dr. safina has been profiled in the "New York Times" and on "Nightline," named among "100 Notable Conservationists of the 20th Century" by Audubon magazine, and featured on the Bill Moyers PBS special "Earth on Edge."
Blue Ocean Institute inspires a closer relationship with the sea through science, art, and literature. They promote conservation solutions from a place of compassion and understanding for people and ocean wildlife by sharing information and ideas that enlighten personal choices and instill hope, and that really work toward restoring the living oceans. They are an international non-profit conservation organization headquartered in East Norwich, with an office in Hawaii.
