Team Grey Defeats Manhasset For The Second Time

2007-06-15 / Sports

In another classic Woodstick match up with arch rival Manhasset, the 6th Grade Boys Grey Lacrosse Team once again emerged the victor by a score of 7 to 6!

It was a close match from start to finish with Manhasset getting on the score board first. The teams traded hard hits and goals throughout.

Tim Muller and matt Schmelzinger shut down the Manhasset offense in the mid field and Joe Stone, Kyle Skramko, and Matt Haeffner kept the attack at bay in the defensive zone. Matt Cortese was a wall between the pipes making some unbelievable saves for GC. The middies hustled up the ground balls and had better face off man in JJ Mcdaid.

GC's winning goal came as the clock ticked down on a precision 1-2-3 passing combination which left Manhasset flatfooted. Jack Metzler knocked down a Manhasset clear and made a pass to Matty Schmelzinger who cut in front of the net for the goal!

It was a total team effort!

Congratulations and best wishes for continued success go out to each of the players on the grey team from their proud Coaches Joe Guterding, John Mcdaid, Rich Muller, and Mike Dooley: Justin Guterding, John Mcdaid, Tim Muller, Ryan Dooley, Matt Cortese, Matt Schmelzinger, Jack Metzler, Joe Stone, Lucas Clay, Kyle Skramko, Matt Haeffner, Andrew Magdich, Marc Lamarr, Eric Sundius, Brendan Fitzsimmons, Spencer Bais, Dan Weiss, John Walcyzk, Matt Vitale and Petey Kerantzas.
