Round One: Yankees-Rockies

A first round playoff contest found the Yankees battling the Rockies. For the Rockies, a solid pitching effort was put forth by Matt Ingegno, Lucas Hildreth and Joey Rocco. The Rockies battled tough Yankee's pitching with strong at bats from Kyle Ascher, Mike Emmert and Chris Crafa. John Crafa and John Fanning provided solid defense behind the plate. Dylan Laderoute and Matt Lisoski generated good chances on offense for the team, which took an early 1-0 lead. Unfortunately for the Rockies, the lead did not hold up as the Yankees battled their way back for a 3-1 triumph. The Rockies players played hard all year, and look forward to next season.

Round One: Padres-Diamondbacks

The D-Backs battled, by were unable to overcome a strong first inning by the Padres in this first round matchup. Although there were some hard hit balls by Jack Tobin and Matthew Muscarella, the team was only able to manufacture one run. John Malandro led off with a hit and was quickly moved into scoring position on a well placed hit by Jack Cassler. He was knocked in by Evan Nagel's double. Excellent fielding by Matt Mastromatteo and Michael Crapotta helped kept the Padres scoreless for the last 5 innings. Jack Cashwell closed out the last frames solidly for the D-Backs. With the help of Jack McGovern, Anthony Hazarian, and Danny Pietromonaco, the D-Backs never quit and tried their best to come back. The Padres prevailed with six runs in the first and took the first round game with a 6-1 win.

Round Two: Angels-Yankees

Despite hits by Zachary Lambraia, Mike McGuire, Luke Armstrong and Jack Brennan, the Yankees fell to the Angels in a second round game. The game was kept close by the fielding gems of John Schlichte, Kyle Thorton, Bret Bello, Ryan Aversano, Mike Brennan and Matthew Lobasso. James Noyes, in his first appearance of the season, threw a scoreless fifth inning. The Angels were led by the strong pitching trio of Owen Fisher, Jack Fenty and Troy Sorensen. In his biggest hit of the season, Nathan Overend knocked in the first Angel run. The Angels kept the pressure on early with key hits from Joe Shelter and Matt Mullahey. The offense was supported by the D of Matt Esposito, Charlie Burke, William Cooke and Brian Regan. In the sixth, John Simmons doubled home an important insurance run for the halos as the Angels prevailed, 2-0.

Round Two: Padres-Marlins

The second round also saw a hard fought game between the Padres and Marlins. The Marlins, behind solid pitching by Timmy Dolan, Brogan Mahon, Doug Mongiardo and Chris Larkin, kept the Marlins competitive in this game through six innings. Timely hitting by Thomas Lane and several of the Marlins, along with the defensive play of Louis Basileo, Christian Carlino, Alex Hristakis, Joe Levano, Nicholas Sarkis and Drew Vorkas gave the Marlins a 2-1 lead midway through the contest. The Padres brought several solid arms to the hill with Owen Lucano, Scott Kiley, Matt Vani, Ryan Smith and Tommy Ilardi all pitching well. Big hits came off the bats of Jack Riceman and Matt Vani. To keep a close lead safe, the Padres got excellent fielding from Henry Saenz, Caroline Allen, Ben Walsh, Vincent Vaiana and Tommy VanNoy. The Padres came back in the second half of the game, and came away with a 4-2 victory.

Round Two: Phillies-Devil Rays

Edgemere Park witnessed a tight game between the Phillies and the Devil Rays in a second round tilt. The Rays hurlers Jared D'Sa and Brett Alvarez kept the game tight through the first four innings. With Andrew Wykowski behind the dish and the fielding of Patrick Slovensky and Aidan Polke, this game looked destined for extra innings. A solid outfield patrolled by Dan Polinsky, Howard Miller and Matthew Mage coupled with the hot hitting of Kevin Martinez and Nicholas Jones added to the intensity of the contest. Liam McCrann sat out the game with an injury and was missed. The Phillies pitching staff, led by Chris Halka, Dan Confort, Ryan Ecshmann and Ross Sutton, held the Devil Rays in check throughout. Robert Brosnan handled the catching duties well, while William Hammersley supporting the team behind the plate in the later innings. While Michael Dempsey was not available for the game, the Phillies defense was sound, with Greg Barton, Chris Dorizas, Tony Bennett and Ricky Boudreau making sure that the Phillies kept the game close, which they did in a 2-1 win.

Round Two: Pirates-Mets

The Mets and Pirates hooked up in an air tight contest dominated by superb pitching. Patrick Gibbons, Anthony Sikorski and Grant Hennenberger controlled the Pirate hitters for most of the game. Lucas D'Aversa, Chris Trabulsi, Tom Mascola and Jake Quattlander helped keep the game scoreless for the Mets with outstanding defensive plays. A real team effort by the Mets included the play of Dan Casale, Tim Foxen, Pat Jessop and Chris Moscatiello, who also gave the Mets a fighting chance up until the last out. On this day, the Pirates were not to be denied. Jack Capetola, Colin Castro and John Wotczak shut the Mets down. Andrew Andron's timely hit and Jay McNamara's RBI single proved to be the only run the Pirates needed. The pitching was supported by great defense by Joe Leighton, AJ Crean, Brian Leggett, Thomas Casciano, Bobby Menges and Stephen Casola to seal a 1-0, second round victory.
