Fifteen Garden City High School students committed to excellence in theater arts were inducted into the school's recently formed chapter of the International Thespian Society (ITS) on June 7.

To participate in the chapter, now officially recognized by ITS as Troupe #7135, students begin as apprentices and accumulate points based on their participation in theatrical productions and related activities. Advisor and Theater Arts Teacher Laura Rebecca presided over the induction ceremony with the assistance of Troup President Ashley Galligan and Vice President Brittany Stein.

The troupe was officially established in December 2006 with support from James McCrann, the district's Music and Arts Coordinator. Mr. McCrann attended the induction ceremony along with Drama Club Advisors Stephen Mayo and Brandon Psenicka and family members of inductees.

ITS is a nationally recognized honor society for students involved in theater. It is maintained by the Educational Theater Association (EdTA), which offers many benefits to students and theater teachers across the country (www.edta.org).
