It was like old home week at Saint Anne's School recently as two internationally-known church liturgical designers--Robert Rambusch and Larry Hoy who had collaborated on the remarkable renovation, in record time, of Saint Anne's Church in 1993, paid a visit with Msgr. "Father" John Gilmartin and some wide-eyed students to discuss the dramatic news that the visitors will supervise the design and furnishing of a Chapel in the school dedicated to the memory of the late Msgr. William F. Costello.

More important to the youngsters was the fact that the distinguished visitors were interested in their thoughts about the design and furnishing of the chapel. The designers took the youngsters in tow for visits to several other chapels for a briefing on church design and furnishing. Later, they sat back in astonishment, reviewing the freshness of their creative suggestions for the new chapel.

In the orientation at Saint Anne's Church, one youngster noticed the current use of the large cross over the baptismal font as a sign of eternal life linked with the waters of new life we are blessed with in the sacrament of baptism. When asked about seating in the new chapel, another youngster suggested using adjustable and moveable seats that would accommodate different uses of the chapel space.

Plans for a chapel in the area in the school once known as the Small Auditorium had been underway for some time but they became reality-based and on a larger scale when planners for the Fifth Anniversary of "Spirit Day 2007" set for Sept. 15 recommended that church prize funds awarded from the "Big Bucks" drawing be used in underwriting the cost of the design and furnishing of the chapel. Moreover, they chose to dedicate the chapel to the late Msgr. Costello as an ideal representative of the Spirit of Saint Anne's.

All prizes will be awarded if all 800 "Big Bucks" tickets are sold! If fewer than 800 tickets are sold, the prize pool will be 50% of the total amount raised, with the prize levels decreased proportionally.
