2007 Sharks Team Photo The Sharks closed out their season with a come from behind 5-5 tie on Saturday with the U-15 Team Long Island and a 9-2 win on Sunday over New Canaan.

Team Long Island shut out the Sharks for 2 quarters with superb goaltending and 6 lucky breaks off the post. The Sharks defense and goalie, Dan Marino held the fast moving, hard shooting Team Long Island to 3 goals in the first half. Finally, the Sharks scored 4 unanswered goals in the 3rd quarter to grab the lead. That lead was, however, short-lived as LI closed the 3rd quarter with 2 quick goals and the lead, 5-4. After battling the entire 4th quarter, the Sharks finally tied the game on a goal by Brian Coleman with 42 seconds remaining and a few spectacular saves by John Bock who faced down a final fast break and certain team Long Island goal in the final seconds.

Scoring for the Sharks was Clarkson (2) from Dwyer & Coleman, Kennedy (2) both from Dwyer and Coleman unassisted.

On Sunday, the Sharks closed the season with a victory over New Canaan on goals by Dwyer (2), Gordon (2), Kennedy (2), Pat Berkery, Michael Lofrese on assists from each other and Clarkson & Coleman. Also scoring was Brian Porter, who scooped up a ground ball in the defensive end and rolled through New Canaan like a runaway train until he found the back of the net with a rip of the long pole.

Sharks form line behind Goalies Bock & Marino During the season, the Sharks, split evenly between 7th & 8th grade boys have faced teams from all over Long Island, the greater metropolitan area and the east coast, including New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Maryland. Most of the teams have been U-15, which includes 8th and 9th grade boys. The Sharks have faced adversity in every team faced and have adapted to win every game but 3, each of which was decided in the final minute of play. Congratulations to each of the players on a great season! The Sharks have been coached by "Doc" Dougherty, Frank Tashman and Dan Flannery.
