Roger Eltringham, the recipient of the Mineola-Garden City Club's Community Service Award, responded with his appreciation to the club for the honor.
On the evening of May 7, a legion of Rotarians along with friends and family of Roger Eltringham, gathered at the Garden City Hotel to honor him as the recipient of the Mineola-Garden City Rotary Club's 17 th annual Community Service Award, which recognizes the spirit of volunteerism and commitment to community service. A consummate volunteer, Eltringham was recognized for his myriad contributions to the Village of Garden City and beyond. Among them are his past service as President of the following: Garden City Jaycees; the Eastern Property Owners' Association (EPOA); the Joint Conference of Garden City's POAs; the Leukemia Society of America; the Kiwanis Club of Garden City; and currently the Garden City Chamber of Commerce. He also served as the distinguished Past Lieutenant Governor of the Long Island South Central Division of New York State Kiwanis. One of the most noteworthy contributions to the Village is his 27-year service as Race Director of the Merrill Lynch Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot, which this year presented more than $1 million to benefiting charities. He is Vice President of sales and marketing, Allianceplus, Inc.
Roger Eltringham, honoree, received a citation on behalf of the Village of Garden City from Mayor Peter Bee.
