Mothers Celebrated At Stratford
Samantha Shaps and her mother
Virginia McCavera's second-grade students celebrated Mothers' Day in their classroom with a special brunch and presentation for their mothers, who were treated to muffins made with the help of some generous fathers, a special song, and five poems about mothers and how special they are.
Each mother also received a homemade corsage and a coupon book to redeem for some help around the house. The children spent many weeks preparing for the special morning. They rehearsed the poems for correct pronunciation and expression, for example. They also composed phrases describing their mothers and used their compositions to decorate flowers displayed throughout the classroom.
According to Miss McCavera, "Through all their preparation and hard work, the students gave their mothers the gift of a wonderful morning together."
