The Garden City U10 Destroyers, after dropping their last league game, were able to get back on track by beating the Wantagh-Seaford Dominators. In a game that could have went either way, the Destoyers showed that they wanted it more than their opponent did. In the first half the defense of Harry Furey, Brandon Punturo, John Evangelista and Brandon Choi was solid and they did what they do best by chasing down players and taking most scoring opportunities away. The start of the second period saw the Destroyers down 1-0 but not for long as the offense lit fire. Great hustle and good ball control, by Chris Gormley, Nicholas Sarkis, Andrew Mohacsi, Marc Oellrich & William Hammersley allowed the offense to do its job. Andrew Mohacsi scored early on off a pass from William Hammersley tying the game at 1-1. Matt Mullahey playing for the first time in goal denied every attempt the Dominators made. With Conor Sproat back on the field after playing the first half in goal, he displayed amazing ability and determination as he blew by the whole Dominators team for a fantastic end-to-end goal giving the destroyers a 2-1 lead. This goal proved to be the winner as the crowd of parents went wild.
