Flea Market participants and sellers enjoyed last year's "lucky bucks" raffle. On June 2, The Garden City Historical Society will hold its annual A.T. Stewart Flea Market on the grounds of the Historical Society Museum, 109 Eleventh Street, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

So often people say they have many spare items around the house and they'd love to have a garage sale, but they don't want to go through the fuss of advertising. Well, the Historical Society has solved the problem.

Our good old-fashioned neighborhood garage sale is open to all - homeowners, apartment dwellers and vendors. Participants can "take a space" and sell their own items, or get together with a couple of neighbors or family members and take a space. And here's the best part...we'll do all the advertising! Ten-foot-square spaces can be reserved for $75, on a first come/first serve basis. For information, call Marjorie Egan at 741-8050.

The Historical Society also offers other opportunities for Flea Market participants. The Society will sell your consignment items (small items may be restricted) at the price you designate. You receive two-thirds of the sale. People may donate items to the Historical Society, too, for use in the museum or for sale at the Flea Market. The Society receives all the proceeds of sales of donated items, accepted at the Society's discretion. For information on consignment or donations, please call Jill Mayer, 747-8759, or Kris Harder, 747-1774.

Despite the rainy day, the 2006 Historical Society Flea Market raised enough funds for the Society to establish an Acquisitions Fund for the purchase of historically significant items for its Museum.

Remember, we'll do the advertising; you bring the wares. Get ready for the second annual A.T. Stewart Flea Market, Saturday, June 2. Reserve your space today.
