On Saturday, April 21st, the Sharks faced off against a much larger team from Glenridge, New Jersey team in a first ever match-up between the two teams. Proving that size is not the deciding factor in Lacrosse games, the Sharks shook off the larger players to score 14 times and allowed only 3 goals.
On Sunday, the Sharks faced the Greenwich Youth 8A team at USMMA and lost a nail biter, 6-5. Every match-up between these two teams has been close. Last year in the final game of the season, the Sharks rebounded from a 3-0 deficit to tie and then take the lead in a game that ultimately ended in a 5-5 tie with a Greenwich goal in the final 37 seconds. This year, the Sharks again climbed back from a 4-1 deficit at halftime to tie the game, 5-5. However, Greenwich again came up with what proved to be the winning goal in the final minute of play.
The Sharks are expecting an even greater challenge this weekend in their match-up against a team from Cockeysville, MD on Saturday, April 28th at USMMA at 3PM. In addition to being a hotbed of lacrosse, Maryland is a national incubator for lacrosse goalies, so the Sharks are expecting a team with speed, depth and excellent goaltending.
