This past week the High School Baseball Team swept a 3 game series with Lawrence to maintain their lead in Conference A1 (6-2). They also dropped a non-league game to South Side.

Garden City 15

Lawrence 0

The offense belted 16 hits as 12 Trojans had hits.

Rob Finneran (2-3, 4 RBI's); Matt Emmert (2-3, 3 Runs); and Colin Ridgway (2-2, 2 Runs) led the offense.

Finneran pitched a 2 hit shut out with 9 strikeouts over 5 innings. Andrew Cauchi and Matt Barnes each pitched 1 scoreless inning.

Garden City 7

Lawrence 0

Junior Colin Ridgway upped his record to 3-0 with a 1 hit shut out. Ridgway retired the first 11 batters he faced before yielding a hit. He retired the last 11 batters as well. Ridgway struck out 12 with no walks.

Rob Finneran went 3-4 with 2 RBI's. Kevin Volpe and Justin Kirshner each had 2 hits.

Garden City 10

Lawrence 1

Ryan Maloney pitched a complete game scattering 5 hits with 8 strike outs and no walks.

GC banged out 13 hits led by Matt Emmert, Kevin Volpe, Ryan Sweeney and Fred Stutzmann - each had 2 hits.

Garden City 6

South Side 8

(non-league)

Trailing 2-1 in the 2 nd inning. GC tied the score on an RBI single by Matt Emmert. The Cyclones took a 5-2 lead in the 4 th on a 3 run home run. GC came back with 2 runs on a 2 run single by Rob Fargnold to trail 5-4.

South Side scored 3 runs in the 5 th for an 8-4 lead. GC closed the gap to 8-6 in the bottom of the 7 th and had the bases loaded before a game ending line drive to centerfield.

Rob Fargnoli and Ryan Sweeney had 2 hits each.
