Sparks Rally Falls Short

2007-04-27 / Sports

The Garden City Sparks (GU11) battled in their second league game of the season but fell short 1-0 to Levittown. Levittown had the better of play in the first half and scored the only goal of the game on a beautiful display of dribbling and weaving midway through the first half. The Sparks fought hard in the second half with numerous attempts on goal stopped by the Levittown keeper. Garden City pressured the vast majority of the second half but could not break through the tough Levittown defense. These two teams have fought hard over the past several seasons with Garden City winning the previous two match ups 1-0. This past weekend the tide was turned. The Sparks, defending GU11 Division 1 champions, have started the season with two consecutive 1-0 losses. The girls aim to get their Spark back this weekend against Glen Cove.
