Matt Emmert hits one of his two home runs against Carey. Photo by Newsphoto.com In their last seven games, Garden City's varsity baseball team has gone 6-1 and has outscored their opponents 77-16.

Pitcher Rob Finnneran got the win against Lawrence on April 17th. He allowed only two hits and a walk while striking out eight in five innings. He also added to the offense with a home run and two RBIs. Bobby Fargnoli and Tom Lapinski also hit home runs to contribute to the 15-0 victory for the Trojans.

Continuing the series against Lawrence on April 19th, GC pitcher Colin Ridgway threw a one hitter, with the only hit coming on a two out single in the fourth inning. From that point, Ridgway went on to retire the next 11 batters leading the Trojans to a 7-0 victory.

In the third game of the series against Lawrence, Ryan Maloney earned the win for Garden City. He allowed five hits, no walks and struck out eight. Kevin Volpe went 2-for-4 with three RBIs adding to the 10-1 win.

On April 21st the team faced a tough opponent in Rockville Centre's South Side. Although GC kept it close, ultimately South Side handed the Trojans their second loss of the season with an 8-6 win.

Rob Finneran was on the mound again for the Trojans. He pitched five innings and gave up no runs, three hits, a walk and struck out six. He also went 3-for-3 at the plate with four RBIs. Matt Emmert hit two of Garden City's four home runs in the game.

Bobby Fargnoli hit a three run home run in the bottom of the third and Ryan Sweeney also homered bringing the final score to 15-1. You can view over 1000 photos from the team's recent home games at www.Newsphoto.com
