Art/Sports Auction
On Saturday, May 5 th, the Sisterhood of the Garden City Jewish Center will be holding its 12 th annual benefit art and sports memorabilia auction. Admission is $5 per person. Once again this year, in the spirit of community, each attendee may designate a local church or synagogue to receive a donation of the full ticket price. Any person making reservations by April 24 th will also have the opportunity to request specific subjects or styles of art to be auctioned.
The auction will feature works from artists including Jane Wooster Scott, Norman Rockwell, Grant Wood, Marc Chagall, Erte, Leroy Neiman, Grandma Moses and others. In addition, professionally authenticated autographed sports memorabilia and other items will be auctioned. The auctioneer is specially selecting a broad variety, so there will be several pieces to fit all tastes. All the artwork is custom framed and matted, and opening bids are up to 2/3 less than traditional framed gallery prices.
The auction begins at 8 p.m. The preview begins at 1, and complimentary hors d'oeuvres, dessert and beverages will be served.
The auction is guaranteed to be fun and entertaining, even if you don't wind up with a winning bid. To obtain advance tickets and reservations and designate your church or synagogue for the donation of your admission charge, or for more information, please call Mark Temares at 294-4634.
