Senator Hannon Secures Grants For Community
Senator Kemp Hannon (R-6th S.D.) achieved another victory for Long Islanders this year, delivering over $320,000 in funding for Garden City . "Not only were we able to secure a record amount of state aid for our schools and reject the Governor's ill-advised cuts to our region, hospitals and nursing homes, we were able to obtain vital funding for Garden City," said Hannon.
This year, residents will see an even greater STAR rebate check on top of a record-breaking amount of aid for our schools, which is designed to reduce the increase in school budgets to be voted on in May. Moreover, the Garden City school district will receive over $5.4 million in state aid, a 21.25% increase over last year's budget.
"With taxes increasing, college tuition costs rising and long term health costs going up, people have less disposable income to donate to organizations which help keep up our communities. That is why I worked to secure grant funding for Garden City in the New York State Budget," added Hannon.
Those to receive funding from Senator Hannon include the following:
LIMSAT - Help defray salaries and expenses in connection with operation
Adelphi - For Senior Connections Program at Adelphi
Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline - Support and expand services to community
Coalition on Child Abuse and Neglect - Assist child victims of abuse and neglect

Garden City Special Police - Continue to serve community, recruit & train new members, maintain, replace and upgrade equipment and maintain meeting facilities
Garden City Senior & Family Initiative/Family & Children's Association - Continuation of programs through the Garden City Senior and Family Initiative

Long Island Children's Museum - Continuation of children's programs

Hannon stated, "While in Albany, I am continuously working to secure more funding for our local communities. The organizations I helped fund through the State Budget are worthwhile and assist Long Island in a variety of ways. I will continue to work hard in the coming years to deliver more aid for our region."
