The Presbyterian Church in Garden City has created The Society of Angels to honor former and current members who have included the church in their long-term financial planning. Sixteen people were inducted at a luncheon in the Social Room on Sunday April 22, including Carl Kessler, Bill and Adele Kiesel, Annette Schroeder, Doug Linder and Larry Keith. The posthumous inductees were Dr. Florence Wilson, Katherine Aitkins, Olive Glacel, Charles MacDowell, Maybelle Freise, Margaret Drowne, Flora Specht, Elsie Demarest, Lilabell Aiken, Lillian McDowell and Gwen Alexander.

The Rev. Wanda Lawry Hughes gave each honoree a gold angel pin and presented a perpetual plaque displaying their names. The Society of Angels plaque reads "Inspired by their love of God, these faithful stewards have included The Presbyterian Church in Garden City in their wills or estate and retirement plans."

The program also included presentations by Garden City attorney Lawrence Jones and Presbyterian Church U.S. foundation representative David Haight. The luncheon was organized by the church's Presbyterian Women, chaired by Jean O'Brien.
