Garden City Budget News
      The Board of Trustees recently approved a $53.7 million dollar budget for the fiscal year beginning June 1, 2007. This budget provides the financing for the approximate 317 full-time Villages employees that provide Fire, Police, Public Works, Recreation and other assorted services. This Budget is entirely separate from the School Budget.

      Members of the Jump Start Foundation visited Mercy Medical Center's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) on April 5th to present a check for $10,000, bringing the high school athletics group's support for the special facility for premature and sick newborns to $91,000.

Lowden~Hickcox Engagement
      Barbara Lowden of Greenwich has announced the engagement of her daughter, Deja Marie Lowden, to Andrew Robert Hickcox, son of Nancy Haufler and John Murphy, both of Garden City. Presbyterian Church Inducts Society of Angels Members
      The Presbyterian Church in Garden City has created The Society of Angels to honor former and current members who have included the church in their long-term financial planning. Senator Hannon Secures Grants For Community
      Senator Kemp Hannon (R-6th S.D.) achieved another victory for Long Islanders this year, delivering over $320,000 in funding for Garden City . "Not only were we able to secure a record amount of state aid for our schools and reject the Governor's ill-advised cuts to our region, hospitals and nursing homes, we were able to obtain vital funding for Garden City," said Hannon.

      On Saturday, May 5 th , the Sisterhood of the Garden City Jewish Center will be holding its 12 th annual benefit art and sports memorabilia auction. Admission is $5 per person. Speaker From Ugandan Children's Fund
      This Sunday, April 29 at 9:15 a.m., Mary Westring of "Ugandan Children of Conflict Education Fund"(UCCEF), will speak at the Adult Forum at the Garden City Community Church. The UCCEF is a non-profit organization formed in 2002 to provide education of former child soldiers in Northern Uganda. Children, as young as nine, served as soldiers to fight against the established governments.
