Nightwatch 2007
The Nightwatch Group in front of their poster creations in the Cathedral Undercroft.
Kids from grades 5-12 attended the Nightwatch at the Cathedral of the Incarnation on Maundy Thursday, the Thursday of Holy Week before Easter. The point of the Nightwatch is that one stays up all night, as the apostles were supposed to, the night Jesus went to pray before His crucifixion. This year the youth group focused on the environment. They watched "An Inconvenient Truth", a film by former vice-president Al Gore. Some really great environmental posters were created and are now hanging in the Cathedral Undercroft. Each focus group came up with an environmental project they wanted to start around the Cathedral grounds. For example, one group is going to implement a recycling system and another group is researching the use of low energy light bulbs. In addition, some egg dyeing took place and everyone hung out in their sleeping bags until the dawn of Good Friday.
The Easter egg dyeing production line is busily at work!
Do we look like poster boys or what?
The participants demonstrated their creativity by making environmental care and concern posters.
