In 1935 the high school lacrosse teams at Garden City and Manhasset started a tradition that is still alive and well today. Back then, they played each other in a game that the Manhasset Indians won by a score of 9-0. More ... The Power had only enough girls to field a team, with no substitutes and no time for rest. They came out strong against Lynbrook, scoring three goals to Lynbrook's one in the first half. More ... The Garden City Patriettes U10 girls' soccer team played the Rockville Centre Red Hots on March 31st in Rockville Centre. The score was 0-0 throughout the first half. The Patriettes' defense and keepers shut out Rockville Centre and despite a great effort by the Patriettes' offense, the score remained tied at 0-0. The Patriettes face Massapequa at home on April 21st. Let's go Patriettes! More ... At the end of the 2006 Fall Season, the Albertson Attack and the Garden City Demons finished atop the Nassau Division 2 standings. The teams were separated by one point and although the Attack eventually won the division, the Demons enjoyed a 6-3 victory at Albertson. For their efforts, both teams were promoted to Nassau Division 1 this season. More ... Three Village came out strong, dominating the ball most of the first quarter, requiring GC's defense of Finneran, Halaby, Scott and Guarino to work overtime getting the ball downfield. More ... In their first league match of the season, the Xtreme came up against the East Meadow Hurricanes at Nassau Haven Park last Saturday. The Xtreme played as if they were in mid-season form. The team passed the ball with great accuracy, supported each other and played determined defense. The pace of the match was very quick, one counter attack after another. More ... On Saturday, March 24, the U-10 Garden City Destroyers took the field for round one of the Waldbaums Cup.The Destroyers came away with a victory against the Plainedge Eagles. In what was a fantastic win, the Destroyers have punched their own ticket to the second round of the Waldbaums Cup. More ... The Wings wrapped up their season with a four game round robin where their draw included three of the top four teams in the division. The Wings finished with strong games, but not enough points on the season for a playoff spot. In the February 17 game against Plainview, Nick Greco scored from John Mendicino and Joe Scalise to tie the game at 1 in the first. More ... The Fireballs continued their season with two games this past weekend - their regular season opener against the Commack Spirit and then the first round of the State Cup against the Valley Stream Thunder. Playing the week before Spring break in Garden City is always a tough one, but this weekend was made more difficult when a couple of key injuries/sickness to Fireball players struck. More ... Garden City came out on top by a score of 19-6. Erin Brennan led the Trojans scoring with five goals and six assists, followed by Elise Terracciano's four goals.
