Police Report: Mischief and Mayhem

On April 2 , 9:51 PM, a 42-year-old Mineola man was stopped and arrested for numerous equipment and administrative violations, aggravated unlicensed operation 2nd degree, and unlicensed operation, at Franklin Avenue. The motorist had 2 revocations of his license for alcohol offenses also... A 25-year-old Hempstead woman allegedly took a $48 Betsey Johnson necklace at Lord and Taylor, on March 22... On March 21 , police arrested a 32-year-old Hempstead man for allegedly stealing an $100 necklace at the store... $500 in US currency was taken from a locker at the NY Sports Clubs, Franklin Ave., on April 1... Pry marks were found on a door at a Franklin Ave. office on April 1 and a witness described the burglar as a dark-skinned man without facial hair, 30's, dressed in a tan jacket and black jeans, as having fled the scene there. An investigation continues... Between March 31 and April 2, 2 doors were found damaged at another Franklin Ave. location and an $1100 laptop, a pair of earrings, and loose change were evidently taken from there... On April 1 , PO Oswald arrested a 44-year-old Hempstead woman for alleged DWI (.15%), driving with a suspended license, and for the failure to stay in a lane on Clinton Rd... Between March 29 and 30, license plates were taken from a GMC parked at Adelphi University. Value was $100... On March 31 , 9 AM, there was a near-miss car accident, and PO Walsh arrested a 35-year-old NHP man for criminal mischief, an E felony, after he damaged a car with a Club, causing $1000 in damage... On March 30 , there was a one-car-auto accident at Cathedral Avenue, where a 22-year-old Wantagh man lost control and hit a tree there. His car then caught on fire, and he was taken to Winthrop Hospital for minor injuries, and his passenger, a 20-year-old Ozone Park woman, entered the hospital for severe facial injuries... PO Hennessy stopped a 46-year-old man from Glen Cove, for not having a front license plate at Clinton Rd./Old Country Rd., on April 1, 5 AM. He was charged with having a revoked license for a previous DWI, improper plate display, the failure to stay in lane, and for 2 outstanding warrants for a building permit and electrical violations... PO Tuohy observed a court officer in pursuit of a man who allegedly had fled the scene after attempting to take items from a car parked in County Field 7, near County Seat Drive, on March 29. A 40-year-old Franklin Square man was subsequently arrested at Primrose Court... On March 27 , a truck stop was held at NHP Rd. and 11 trucks were inspected with 10 trucks taken out of service, with 15 for overweight, 1 for suspended license, and 45 tickets issued... On March 24 , 3:50 AM, a 20-year-old Uniondale man was arrested for Zero Tolerance (.05%), unlicensed operation, speeding at allegedly 52 in a 30, not staying in a lane, and for equipment violations at Clinton Rd... A 73-year-old NYC NY woman was arrested on March 27 at 3:50 PM after she was observed driving with a blocked rear license plate. PO Reilly arrested her on the charges of aggravated unlicensed operation 2nd degree, no registration, no license, and no inspection...

On March 29 , a brush fire occurred on grass near a sidewalk at Frnklin Avenue, and it was extinguihed with a water can... A car fire was put out on March 30... Landscaping personnel accidentally ruptured a gas line at a Carteret Place residence, on March 31... A dumpster fire occurred on Seventh St., April 3, and 220 gallons of water put out the fire...That's all this week. G. T.
