From left: Joan Kuster, hostess for the day; Prof. Nicholas Petron, chairman of the department of performing arts at Adelphi University; and Julie Fehler, president of The Community Club of Garden City and Hempstead On Wednesday, March 14 th, members of The Community Club of Garden City and Hempstead welcomed members of the drama department from Adelphi University.

Hostess of the day Joan Kuster introduced Prof. Nicholas Petron, chairman of the department of performing arts. He explained that the members were going to view two 10-minute plays, part of an annual festival of original plays.

"Bone China" by K. Alexa Mayromatis starred Nicole Fontana and Kerry O'Connor and was directed by Scott Smith. It told the story of two sisters who have lost their mother and are perusing mother's belongings in two boxes.

"Two Summer Evenings" by Jeff Carter starred Lindsay Rhae Beecher and Joseph Faranda and was directed by Drew Linehan. The first scene showed two young people swearing undying love as the man prepares to enter the service and go to Vietnam. In the second scene, the man has returned from Vietnam, where he received a "Dear John" letter, and confronts the girl.

After the performance, the actors and directors participated in a lively question and answer session with club members. Then Prof. Petron discussed the renovations currently underway at Adelphi, particularly in the new performing arts building.

Door greeters were Adel Lynch and Bea Mercadante. Grace Murphy Christiansen was in charge of decoration. Pourers of the day were Ann Daly and Florence Freda. Hospitality was seen to by Jennie Catania, June Kwee, Mary Santoro, Mary Bartolotta and Ida Catania.
