Although it seems like yesterday, it is in fact almost 3 years ago since we had our 30th High School reunion. That was back in June of 2004 at the Marriott Hotel in Uniondale. One of the topics that was floating around amongst us on the closing day was that 10 years is too long a time to not see some of our oldest friends. People spoke of perhaps a 35th! Although this seems early to be writing about it, there is a method to my madness. I have already penciled in August 1, 2009 with the Marriott. By then a total remodeling of the Grand Ballroom will be completed. Before this year finishes, I should be able to lock in a price that The Marriott will hold until 2009. This will save everyone some money, and give grads an opportunity to make payments instead of having to lay it out all at once. The decision to change from June to August also has a rationale. June is weddings and graduation month, and that prevented a number of people from being able to attend. We will have the elegant Garden City Pool available to us during the steamy heat of summer. The party would begin with a pub-crawl centered around the Franklin Ave & 7th Street bars on Friday night. (Maybe get a discount there too!) The actual reunion on Saturday, and grads can still get together for breakfast and more pool time on Sunday. So....am I crazy? Maybe, but I sure would like your feedback. I may be able to get a website up and running for easy reference and updates. (Do I hear anyone volunteering to help with that one?) I am also ooking into the alumnus who may be able to provide us some services at a deep discount. Looking for suggestions there too!
