AAUW Annual Book And Author Luncheon
Author, Alafair Burke, former district attorney and law professor who will discuss her novels at the Book and Author Luncheon.
The Garden City Branch of AAUW will hold its annual Book and Author Luncheon on Friday, April 20 at the George Washington Manor in Roslyn. The luncheon begins at noon and the community is cordially invited to attend. A program featuring four authors will be presented.
Alafair Burke a former district attorney is now an Associate Professor at Hofstra Law School, where she teaches criminal law and procedure. She is the daughter of acclaimed crime writer James Lee Burke. Her three novels in the Samantha Kincaid series are Judgment Calls, Missing Justice, and Close Case. A forthcoming novel, Dead Connection, will be published in June.
Carol Hoenig is the author of the novel Without Grace which has been awarded the Silver Medal for Book of the Year 2005 by Fore Word Magazine. Her essays, articles, book reviews and short stories appear in a wide number of publications.
Johanna Hurwitz a former children's librarian with the NY Public Library and Great Neck Library devotes her time to writing books for young readers . She is the author of sixty-six books including Busybody Nora, Russell Sprouts and Baseball Fever.
Thomas Phelan the author of four critically acclaimed novels has written a powerful and deeply affectingnew book of historical fiction, The Canal Bridge. July 2007 he will give a seminar at the West Cork Literary Festival in County, County Cork, Ireland. All proceeds from the luncheon will benefit the Education Foundation and the Legal Advocacy Fund of AAUW. The cost is $38 per person.
