This week is the last of the regular season. 9 of our 14 teams in the highly competitive Island Garden Super League will be entering the playoffs starting this Saturday, March 17. Six of these finished the regular season in the top three in their respective divisions with five receiving "byes" into the second round !! Here's the latest highlights: BASEL 4TH GIRLS continue to receive rebounding from Emily Basile and ballhandling from Emma Basel.........RAPHAEL 4TH GIRLS are marching into the playoffs with the best record amongst all 4th grade girls teams with 10 wins behind the strong play of Annemarie Kane and Joanna Sokolovic......At 15-3, WALCZYK 5TH GIRLS captured first in their division and a first round bye.........CAFARO 5TH GIRLS, now 8-3, have also received a bye into the second round..........KIFFEL 7TH GIRLS are another squad who are "byed" into the second round having wrapped up 2nd place in their division behind the recent standout play of Caitlin McGuiness and Maggie Comiskey........BASEL/CAPETOLA 7TH GIRLS finished their season with a W led by the scoring and defense of Kathryn Montgomery, Zoe Zeno and Christina Capetola.........GRANVILLE 4TH BOYS look forward to continuing their winning ways in the post season led by Conor Muldoon and Tom Tubridy..........By winning 4 of their last 5, powered by Michael Collins and Luke Zeccola, KELLY 5TH BOYS are poised to make a playoff run. Matt Kelly's last second three pointer fueled their most recent win.........CAPETOLA 7TH BOYS have clinched 2nd place and a first round playoff bye.........TULLY 5TH BOYS have advanced to 2nd place in their league and a playoff berth sparked by the play of Carney Mahon and Tommy Leggett............RAPHAEL 8TH BOYS finished with an outstanding 15-4 mark, easily capturing their division........For complete standings and playoff brackets check the league's website, www.islandgarden.com.
