Garden City Swimming Finishes 2nd At County Championships
The Garden City Boys Swim Team finished second to Long Beach at the County Championships held at Eisenhower Park. The team performance was outstanding but fell short to a very deep Long Beach team. Meet highlights included Sean Lane being honored for most outstanding swimmer. Lane and Chris Finnigan finished 1st and 2nd in the 200 freestyle. Sean Lane finished 1st in the 500 freestyle.
Senior Captain Sean Hosford and Chris Finnigan led Garden City in the 100 Freestyle finishing 1st and 3rd places. Hosford and Junior Colin Quinn took 2nd and 3rd in 100 backstroke and in the most exciting race of the meet the boys 400 freestyle relay was touched out at the wall and finished 2nd, the relay of Finnigan, Quinn, Lane and Hosford shattered the school record that was set in 2006 .
All county honors were earned by Hosford, Lane, Quinn and Finnigan and all four boys will compete at the State Championships in Buffalo on March 2nd and 3rd.
