Saying “So Long” To The Editor:

Literally with a tear in my eye yet a slight smile on my face I write this letter. I honestly believe that if the good Lord had dropped me from the sky I could have never landed in a better community than Garden City. When I started this business, I didn’t really know what to expect. Well 20 years later, I understand how much this business has given me. I have met some of the most wonderful people I’ll ever meet. To all those people who have used my service over the years I want you to know I will never in a million years be able to thank you enough. I hope I have served you well. To all the storeowners, past and present that have trusted me with their goods I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Town Meat Market, Food Basket, Mars Pharmacy, Culinary Heights, Food for Thought, CVS, Atlantis Chemists, Key Food, Madigan’s and the old BBQ, you all gave me an opportunity, I’ll miss working with you a lot more than you’ll ever know, And to all you people who never used my service but always said hello from seeing me around the stores or in the parking lot thank you for your kindness. Actually that’s all Garden City has ever given me, generosity and kindness. I’m not leaving you without someone to take my place though. My old friend Richie who has been working a lot of Saturdays for the past seven years will be taking over the business. I know he cares about you and that’s all that really matters to me.

But hey like it says at the heading of this letter, it’s not good-bye it’s only so long. I’ll be back in the future to say hello to all the guys and give Rich a hand when he needs one. So if you hear a knock on the door it could be me, I might not have a delivery but I will have a hello and a hug. So keep a cold one in the fridge, two is even better. I’ll miss you all.
