“the King and I” At Broadhollow theatre

The Garden City Recreation Department has secured tickets to the Broadhollow Theatre Company’s performance of “The King and I” on Wednesday, January 24 th. We will meet in the parking lot of the new Senior Center at St. Paul’s at 1 p.m. and travel by Recreation Bus to the Broadhollow Theatre in Elmont for a 2 p.m. show. We will return to the Senior Center when the show is finished. The cost of each ticket is $25.

Space is limited for this performance. Reservations can be made at the Recreation Office in Village Hall on a first come, first served basis. Full payment must accompany the reservation.

The Recreation Department has received tickets on consignment for the following performances at the Nassau Coliseum -

Disney on Ice - 100 Years of Magic Wed. 1/17/07 at 7:30 p.m.

Cost $15.25

Monster Truck Jam Sun. 2/11/07 at 2 p.m.

Cost $21.50

Cost $14.00 for children under 13

Harlem Globetrotters Sun. 2/18/07 at 1 p.m.

Cost $31.50

Tickets can be purchased at the Recreation Office in Village Hall by any resident of the Inc. Village of Garden City. Tickets must be paid for in cash only. A maximum of six tickets will be sold to any one person. For further information or to purchase tickets, please visit the Recreation Office in Village Hall or call 465-4075.

ATTENTION ALL COMMUNITY PARK TENNIS AND PLATFORM PLAYERS

All Tennis and platform players using Community Park’s facilities are requested to park in the North Parking Lot of Community Park.Construction is beginning on the mini golf area and the entire area south of the courts will be fenced off, with no access from the south to reach the courts. We thank you for your patience.

Like to walk? Need to walk? Join our group of seniors as they walk at St. Paul’s. The group meets on Thursdays at 11 a.m. at the new Senior Center at St. Paul’s, walks, and then brings their lunch to enjoy at the Senior Center after the walk.

New senior center schedule

The following weekly events happen at the New Senior Center in the cottages behind St. Paul’s. Any resident aged 60 or older who is a resident of the Inc. Village of Garden City is invited to attend these free programs -

Monday at 11 a.m. - Bingo - Bring a friend and a bagged lunch to enjoy while playing this fun game.

Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. - Game Day - come challenge other residents or bring your own players and enjoy our many board available for use. Other staff members will also join in.

Wednesdays at noon - Brown Bag Lunch Socia l - Any senior resident interested in getting out and socializing is invited to bring their lunch and meet new people.

Thursdays at 1 p.m. - Sewing, Knitting, Crochet Circle - If you sew, knit, or crochet, or want to learn how, this is for you. All materials will be provided; however bringing your own scissors, knitting needles, and crochet hooks will be helpful. This group will be making lots of fun items for hospitalized children and lap robes for the slightly older.
