Police Report: Mischief and Mayhem Between December 12 and 13, unknown persons cut wires to a spiral tree at a Willow Street residence... PO Oswald arrested a 26-year-old Far Rockaway man for alleged DWI (.15%), a suspended license, restricted license, passing a red light, and the failure to signal a turn at Franklin Avenue/Main, on December 2, at 3:55 am.... PO Sommer arrested a 36-year-old Far Rockaway man for alleged DWI(refusal) after the motorist allegedly hit a curb at Franklin Avenue/Second Street, on December 12, 8:30 p.m... PO Florio received a call for 2 suspicious persons in a vehicle at homestead Avenue, at 1:30 a.m., on December 13. He found 1 person in that car who matched the description of an individual who had committed numerous larcenies in Garden City as well as Nassau County, and that man, a 23-year-old from floral Park, was arrested for 2 felony counts of the possession of stolen property and for 1 larceny. An investigation is continuing for a second man who participated in the larcenies... On December 11 , 4:05 a.m., PO Oswald arrested a 41-year-old Bayshore man for alleged DWI(.15%), alleged speeding at 74 in a 30-mph zone, and the alleged failure to maintain a lane on Washington Avenue... PO Wedra arrested a man for Driving while Impaired(drugs) and for numerous traffic violations on December 16... Between December 14 and 15, 2 bullet holes were found at a Railroad Avenue business, and an investigation continues... A 47-year-old Hempstead woman was arrested after she fled Sears, carrying bottles of White Diamonds, Elizabeth Arden, and Photo of Realities perfume at noon on December 15. Police officers Cristiano and Grimes caught up with her at 1000 Franklin Avenue, and she was later identified by store security, and charged with false personation, larceny, obstructing governmental administration, and an outstanding warrant from Nassau County... PO Oswald arrested a 20-year-old Glen Cove woman for alleged DWI (.16%), alleged speeding, and unsafe lane change, on Glen Cove Rd., on December 15, 3:30 a.m... Between December 14 and 15, 2 cast iron planters were stolen from a Hilton Avenue residence... Someone knocked over an exterior light at a Ninth Street residence between December 15 and 16... A lawn jockey was found damaged at Russell Rd. between December 8 and 9... Someone took 3 lawn reindeer from a Washington Avenue residence between December 15 and 16... Between December 14 and 15, someone broke a light bulb to a street light at Roxbury Rd./Stratford Avenue... Tools were taken from an unlocked garage at Poplar Street between June 1 and December 15... PO Colonna received a call for a car on the RR tracks near Cherry Valley Avenue, on December 16, 5:41 a.m. The car was removed from the tracks and police arrested a 24-year-old Ozone Park man for alleged DWI, reckless criminal mischief, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, and for having an unregistered, uninsured, un-inspected vehicle. The motorist had allegedly driven along the tracks from Nassau Boulevard... Between October 21 and December 19, someone stole a $17,500 NEC phone system with 30 lines, from a business office that had been closed at GC Plaza... A 55-year-old homeless man allegedly stole 7 Lands End jackets valued at $705, at Sears, on December 19, at 8 p.m... Fire Responses: FD removed a lock from a bathroom where an elderly man was locked in, at a Clinch Avenue residence, on December 15... Keyspan was notified of damage to a high pressure gas vent pole at Stewart Ave./Washington Avenue, on December 15... Natural ventilation was used to dissipate smoke from cooking in Apartment 2, at a New Hyde Park Rd. residence on December 16... A Kenwood Rd. house was ventilated after an oven fire on December 18...
