Pack 243 Visits Battleship Cove

On the deck under the big guns.
Every three years Pack 243 makes the trip out to The Battleship Massachusetts, just outside of Boston. It is a greatly anticipated event, and there is never a lack of things to do and things to see. We arrived at 12 noon and were escorted to our banks. We bunked in the belly of the Destroyer John F. Kennedy. And was it great! Well the boys enjoyed it, but it was a little tight for the moms and dads.

In the afternoon we visited the nautical museum where we saw actual articles from the Titanic and many other interesting exhibits.

After the fire drill in the evening, we listened to actual members of the crew of the Battleship Massachusetts describe what it was like to be on the ship in battle. Dinner was great, then the boys were free to roam the ship and to attend various demonstrations such as knot tying, Morse Code, and a movie. We slept well, ate a great breakfast and departed the ship at 10 a.m. with a box lunch for the trip home. Special thanks to the Pack Leaders for all their help. Our next Pack meeting is December 15th at 7:30 p.m. in St. Joseph's School. If you are interested in joining the Pack, come on down.

Hey it's bed time guys!
