Second graders in Virginia McCavera's class at Stratford School recently performed the play The Unexpected Guests by noted children's author Aileen Fisher for parents, relatives, and friends. In the play, pilgrims prepare a Thanksgiving feast for themselves and a few Native American friends-but by the end of the evening more than 90 Native American guests have arrived to participate in the celebration.
The students worked hard to memorize their lines, remember their cues, and make their words come alive through action. Throughout the rehearsal process, they recorded their feelings in written assignments, and look forward to performing another play in the spring.
