"Money Math Mania" At Stratford School

Ventriloquist Steve Petruzzella used puppetry, humor, and audience participation to explore the many facets of mathematics and money with third, fourth, and fifth graders at a special Stratford Avenue School assembly held on November 9.

The show, called "Money Math Mania," focused on how math makes money work. Stratford Students learned about the history of money, saving and spending, equivalent fractions, awareness of the numerical value of coins and paper money, place values, percents, budgets, and interest. Students were invited on stage for demonstrations and challenges-including an exercise that involved the faces that appear on bills of different denominations.
