Fundraiser A Success

Garden City's first annual Juvenile Diabetes Fundraiser for Winthrop Hospital's Diabetes Education Center and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation on October 13th was a huge success thanks to the support and dedication of the Garden City community.

The Winthrop Diabetes Education Center provides support groups and educational programs for children with diabetes and their parents, as well as adults living with diabetes.

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) raises money for a cure for diabetes.

Linda Martinez, Margie Rydzewski and Connie Seltenreich, event organizers, were overjoyed with the generosity and support of friends and local vendors from the community.

They appreciate the donations of food from Edible Arrangements, Garden City Pizza, Paninoteca Italiana and Town Meat Market, all located on Seventh Street.

They also offered thanks for the gift baskets and raffle prizes donated by the Garden City Hotel, Salon Renata at the Garden City Hotel, Garden City Wine and Spirits, Starbucks of Garden City, Bed Bath and Beyond, Southern Living at home, The Wine and Liquor Dept of Carle Place and Babi Salon and Spa of Carle Place.

Participants shopped, bought raffles for prizes and had a lot of fun while raising money for Juvenile Diabetes. Organizers would like to thank Garden City's Christine Phillipides, Lori Rich and Cathy Suerie, representatives of Arbonne International Skincare, Cosmetics and Aromatherpy, Mary Louise Cairo of Pampered Chef, and Jennette Credeter of Parklane Jewelry for their gift baskets, generous donations, time and support.

Everyone involved helped to make this event a great success. For additional information or to make a donation, please contact the Winthrop Diabetes Education Center at 163 Mineola Blvd., Mineola, NY 11501, or call (516) 663-2350.
