St. Anne's Basketball Tops St. Aidan's Again

The St. Anne's Fifth Grade Girls Riceman-Berardi team won their second game of the season by defeating St. Aidan's on October 28th. in Roosevelt. Like their first game versus St. Aidan's, the team only trailed at the outset 2-0, but led all the way thereafter and opened up an eight point lead midway through the third quarter in route to a 20-14 win. Courtney Pursino, Hayley DeSena, Joanie Crinnion, and Erin Pfail exhibited great ball handling skills and adept passing. Great defense by Alex Riceman and Courtney Pursino with many steals at half court. Superior rebounding and ball clearance by Tara Marron, Lauren Evola, Samantha Beradi, Megan Cotter, Kelly Lawkins and Julia Dignam led to a nice lead. Alex Riceman, Courtney Pursino, and Julia Dignam pressured the ball all over to force St. Aidan's to take unwise shots and create turnovers.

Hayley DeSena and Erin Pfail handled clearance passes from Tara Marron, Kelly Lawkins, Samantha Beradi, Lauren Evola and Megan Cotter which led to key baskets. Coaches Ricemen and Berardi did a great job in substituting keeping the players ready to go. The girls are now 2-1 in their season with a game next week versus St. Peter's on the road.
