A Word From The Publisher

We were glad to hear that Halloween went so well in Garden City this year. According to Mayor Gerard Lunquist's column this week, it was virtually without incident. Thanks to all the young people who went out and had a good time in a responsible way.

In other years we had heard stories of young children in tears because their pumpkins had been smashed and homeowners upset because their carefully decorated homes were trashed. Wouldn't it be nice if that sort of mean behavior actually is on the way out?

In other news, we look forward to hearing more information about the various St. Paul's proposals in the next few weeks, once the Board of Trustees has finished reviewing them.

As one letter writer points out this week, there is little point arguing about the meaning of a survey done two years ago when different options were being contemplated. The question now is whether any of the current options make sense to the public.
