Joanne Fitzgerald, the guest speaker at the November 6 meeting of the Garden City American Assn. of University Women
The Garden City Branch of the American Association of University Women will meet on Monday, November 6, at 7:30 p.m. at the Garden City Library. The guest speaker will be Joanne Fitzgerald, a special education teacher and parent of a disabled child. Her talk is entitled: "Henry Viscardi: The Inspiring Story of His Life and His Work in the Field of Disabilities."

Although he was born without legs at a time when there were few options for the physically disabled, Henry Viscardi carved a rich and full life for himself. He left a legacy of achievements, among which are the creation of training programs for jobs for the disabled and the establishment of a school. Interested community members are cordially invited to attend The American Association of University Women which promotes equity for all women, education and self-development over the lifespan and positive societal change.
