Rodney Hakim, leads the group...The Art League of Nassau County meets on Friday, October 27, 7:30 p.m., for its monthly meeting and demo featuring Howard Rose, guest artist, who will paint an oil landscape. Martin Park, NHP Rd. in NHP...On October 28 and 29, come to Old Bethpage Restoration Village, which will create Halloween as it was celebrated on Long Island in the 1880's, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for children. Police Report: Mischief and Mayhem

On October 16, 10 a.m., Detective Barne and PO Edwards arrested a 28-year-old Holtsville woman for allegedly forging over $2,000 in checks at a law office on Franklin Avenue. The charges were for forgery, and grand larceny...On October 11, a 48-year-old Hempstead woman allegedly took a $108 pair of Lucky jeans at Lord and Taylor... Between 12:30 a.m. and 1 a.m., on October 15. someone stole a wallet containing $80 U.S., personal papers, and a cell phone battery, at the Posh Club, GC Hotel...Between October 20 and 22, a $250 light fixture was found damaged at First Street... On October 22, 9:55 p.m., a 39-year-old Hempstead woman allegedly drove her car across a sidewalk at Stewart Avenue, and was arrested by PO Colonna for alleged DWI(.16%) and for avoiding an intersection...Someone broke a $100 window of a 2006 Ford parked at the GC Hotel between October 21 and 22, and stole a $400 GPS unit... On October 21, 2:10 p.m., police received a call concerning a stolen wallet, at DeSalvo Interiors , Franklin Avenue, and PO Fracassa arrived to investigate. The alleged thief was boarding a bus near there and was identified by witnesses as the person who had taken the wallet containing credit cards, from under the register at the store.The man, 65, from Jamaica, was arrested for alleged grand larceny...On October 21, a 31-year-old Uniondale woman was arrested for allegedly stealing over $200 in designer sports wear at Lord and Taylor... An Adelphi student called police after he observed a male in his dorm room at 8:45 p.m., on October 21. After the person was gone, he noticed a wallet containing $25 U.S., credit cards, and personal papers missing...PO Lamardo arrested a 46-year-old Roosevelt man for aggravated unlicensed operation 2nd and 3rd degree after a 2-car-accident occurred at Laurel Street/Old Country Rd. on October 20, 10:15 p.m... PO Hennessy arrested a 47-year-old Roosevelt woman for aggravated unlicensed operation 2nd degree, at Franklin Avenue/Fifth Street, on October 21...A wallet containing credit cards, and $400 U.S. was taken from a purse at the Waterzooi Restaurant, Franklin Avenue, on October 19, between 9 p.m. and 9:45 p.m.

Fumes from a hair treatment set off an alarm at the GC Hair Salon, Seventh Street, on October 17... Natural ventilation was used to clear smoke from cooking at a Stewart Avenue apartment on October 17...A light bulb was installed at a Kilburn Rd. house on October 21...A brush fire occurred at St. James St. South on October 21...Smoke from cooking caused alarm at a Tanners Pond house on October 23... After a carbon monoxide alarm sounded at a Salisbury residence on October 24 , the homeowner was advised to take down plastic from a basement ceiling there...That's all this week.G. T.
