Congratulations to Garden City Liberty U-12 Girls Team for winning first place in the white flight of the Paul R. Cody soccer tournament in Windsor, CT! Liberty was undefeated in the tournament with a record of 4 wins and one tie. On day one of the tournament, they defeated the Newington Thunder 3-0 and the Wetherfield Nightmares 2-0. The second day of the tournament proved to be a very tough day but Liberty prevailed over the Enfield Breakers 1-0 and the Stamford Hurricanes 1-0. Day three was greeted with an early game against the Granby Rovers and the game ended in a 2-2 tie.

The girls had an outstanding tournament and were complimented on their pinpoint passing, give and go plays and crossing of the ball. The team has been working very hard with their trainer on creating space, working the outside of the field and crossing the ball to create scoring opportunities. Liberty's strong offensive game is supported with excellent defensive play to stop opponents from scoring and to contain the ball in Liberty's offensive end of the field. The results of the tournament were a true team effort.

Good luck to Liberty with the rest of their fall season and keep up the good team work. Liberty is currently undefeated in their league games and also won their first State Cup game this year.
