The Thunder 8 Whites readied themselves at the Stewart School for a tough test against rival Massaepequa on Sunday, October 15th. Buoyed by their late charge against the Franklin Square Warriors the week before, which culminated in a 90 yard, 14 minute touchdown drive, spirits were high as the boys took to the field.

Massapequa shot out the gate with a scoring drive that left the Thunder offense determined to fight back. QB Matt Chmil, with backs Brian Leggett, Jack Capetola, Dan Confort, and Sam Lucchesi started churning out yardage behind offensive linemen Mike Franco, Mike Goulard, Joe King, Joe Phillipas, Sean Knowles and Chris Halka. Bogged down near the opponent's 30 yard line, and faced with a 4th down and 11, Chmil took the ball from center, ran a bootleg to the strong side and launched a beautiful pass into the sure hands of Matt Quinn, who fought his way for a first down!

Two plays later, Jack Capetola took the ball across the goaline for the score...Touchdown Thunder!!

Trailing at the half 14-6, Thunder came out prepared to strike back. With Massapequa driving, defensive end Dan Confort broke through the line and helped by Jaime Atkinson, Dom Avitiblile, Mike Desanti and Brian McKenna forced an errant pass into the hands of Kevin McDougal for an interception!

Thunder fought hard in the second half behind the play of Dylan Hughes at QB, with Christian Ferris, Max Sutherland, Peter McCarthy and Matt Muscarella poking holes in Massapequa's defense for the backs to run through. James Murphy and Dan Casale fought back hard and gave as good as they got out there.

Thunder welcomes Brendan Dolan back to the fold this week, as Brendan has been on the "physically unable to perform" list with a broken hand!
