Thunder 8 Maroon - The Right Ingredients
Thunder also had some bad breaks. Luke McDaid was not himself after being sick earlier in the week; Thomas Casciano was sidelined in the 2nd quarter after injuring his hand; John Simmons could only be a spectator, battling the remnants of a week-long virus; and Ian Guarino was also out sick. But on to the good stuff! Some Highlights: - GC Offensive line (Christian Coppola, Marc Prevete, Brian Haeffner, Brendan Schick, Ryan Galioto, Philip Puccio, John Wotczak) made some great holes which Timmy "First Down Machine" Schmelzinger found; Timmy made 5 first downs! - Luke McDaid found the holes, too, and made several nice runs. - Kyle Thornton ran for an early GC touchdown, averting several tacklers along the way! - John Wotczak recovered a Uniondale fumble! (How fun is that?!) - Andrew Wood recovered a fumble with help from Timmy Schmelz., who knocked the ball out of the Uniondale ball carrier's hands. (It's nice to share!) - The GC Defense - James Ostrowski, Dan DeSimplicis, Stephen Moran, Andrew Wood, Sean Coughlin, John Fanning, James Linehan, Howie Miller, Scott Kiley - broke through to the Uniondale backfield and Marc Prevete promptly sacked the Uniondale QB! - Thunder prevented the extra point on both Uniondale touchdowns! De-Fense!!
