Xtreme Take A Bite Out Of The Sharks

On Saturday, October 14 th, the Garden City Xtreme hosted the Merrick Sharks at St. Paul's. The whole team from the start played awesome. The team was quick to the ball and marked their opponents well.

In the first half, Isabel McKeown scored two goals. The forwards Colette Seel, Sam Miesemer and Joanna Sokolovic made excellent passes into Isabel and Lauren Miesemer, which helped in applying lots of pressure on the Merrick defenders. Sam Derby was our first half keeper. She helped the team on the attack by punting the ball past midfield. Sam also made some excellent saves.

In the second half, defenders Katie Roscoe, Deanna DiPierro, Cara Adams, Alison Holfester, Sam Derby and Jenna Codignotto got to play forward. With pinpoint passing and lots of hard work, our team still continued to pressure the Sharks keeper. Lauren scored two second half goals and set up Sam D. for a fantastic goal at the end of the half. Sam M. was in the goal and played great. She got hurt but toughed it out and stayed in the match. When the referee blew the whistle to end the match, the Xtreme walked away with a 5-1 win.
