Class Of 1976 Turns 30

It is hard to imagine that what was once known as the "Bicentennial Class" to graduate from Garden City High School is now looking forward to their thirtieth class reunion. Invitations are being sprinkled across America and as far as Dubai. Celebrants will travel many miles this Thanksgiving holiday season and join together, Saturday, November 25, at the Nassau County Bar Association, corner of west & Fifteenth Streets, Mineola from 8:00 PM until Midnight.

Former Class President, Robert Guida remarked, "This reunion will be the best ever as our class was so dynamic and always eager to stay in touch. I have already heard from classmates living in Hawaii and California and they are making plans to be with us to celebrate another milestone. We look forward to a wonderful evening."

To make this a meaningful experience for all alumni, the Class of 1976, is seeking help from our community. Any Garden City family member of a Class of 1976 graduate is asked to share this article and if possible send their name and current address to committee member, Jackie Vita, 81 Pine Street, Garden City. A great effort to locate the near 500 graduates is underway and thus far many alumni have been located. Information is already posted on Classmates.com as well as the Garden City Alumni Communications Center Website. With such visibility many alumni can easily get in touch with the committee and see what has been planned. Additionally, there will be a message book containing emails and photos of those unable to attend so that should a fellow classmate want to rekindle old friendships, they will be able to get the most current information. You can email Ourtown1@aol.com any information about the classmates from the Class of 1976. Once again, there will be a raffle to help defray the cost of future reunions and to begin a funding of a class gift back to Garden City High School. After all, once the class reaches its thirtieth, fifty seems just around the corner.

Those classmates wishing to make a reservation now, may do so by sending their check made payable to the GCHS Class of 1976, and mail it to Cheri Rice, 194 Euston Road, Garden City. The October special is $75 per person, and the price will be $85 per person in November and at the door. A festive evening with music, old friends, good food awaits all guests.
