Christmas Boutique At Resurrection Church

Shirley Holmes, Boutique Chairman

Saturday, November 4, is the date slated for a Christmas Mission Boutique to be held at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 420 Stewart Avenue, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Approximately thirty years ago, a church member, Shirley Holmes, began preparations for a boutique that would benefit the many missions Resurrection supports. It was a tremendous success and has been repeated annually.

Throughout the years ladies of the congregation hold weekly workshop producing beautiful crafts and ornaments. A special session of the workshop is devoted to creating hand knitted apparel in addition to quilts, tablecloths, napkins, potholders and other household items. Shoppers will also find jewelry books and a large selection of toys to satisfy the younger generation. The popular White Elephant table features lovely dishes, glasses, vases, clocks ceramics, pictures etc, as well as an assortment of small electrical appliances. These are cleaned and checked out to make sure they are in good working order.

To grant a break during shopping, the church youth group will be maintaining a Country Kitchen where light refreshments can be obtained. Chairs and tables are provided to ensure everyones comfort.

Members, friends and neighbors are invited. The true spirit of the holidays will prevail since the entire proceeds are to be donated to missions.
