Candidates for the position must live in the Central Section of Garden City. The motorist was also charged with suspended registration, suspended license, no insurance, and for an outstanding warrant for an alcohol violation... On October 16 , 8 p.m., a 24-year-old Hempstead man allegedly took a camera, batteries, a SONY Walkman, Craftsman tools, men's belts, a wallet, 2 Covington shirts, 3 Arrow shirts, 2 Levi jeans, and 2 ties, at Sears... On October 13 , overnight, someone placed a hose in a rear side window of the basement at a Brompton Rd. house causing over $2000 in water damage... PO Oswald stopped a 23-year-old Westbury man at Clinton Rd. on October 14, 5 a.m. and arrested him for allegedly speeding at 65 mph in a 30 mph zone, and for no seatbelt, allegedly making an unsafe lane change, equipment violations, the alleged failure to stay in a lane and for alleged DWI(.09 %)... On October 11, there was a truck stop at the Stewart Manor RR station, with 16 trucks inspected, 5 trucks taken out of service, 92 tickets issued, 4 weight violations. Police also confiscated a Highway Use Tax Permit and cited the driver of an oversize 85-foot crane for weight violations... On October 17, police arrested a 42-year-old Merrick man and a 32-year-old Far Rockaway woman for alleged crack cocaine use at Field 2 S... Fire Responses: FD cleaned a spill with speedidry at Stewart Avenue/Adams Street on October 12... A 2-year-old child pulled an alarm box at the Cathedral Nursery School on October 13... A Car emitting smoke in the rear of a Meadow Street house, on October 13, gave the impression the house was on fire there... There was a defective transformer in the wall of a closet in the basement of a Roosevelt Street house on October 14... Firemen shut down a heating unit at a Harvard Street house on October 15... Keyspan was notified of a gas odor at the Tennis Center, on October 16... A gas burner was shut down after carbon monoxide readings were found at a Huntington Rd. house on October 16...
