The Garden City Grapplers, now in their 8 th season, have become the largest and most successful Youth Wrestling Team on Long Island. With over 80 boys the Grapplers have dominated Nassau County Wrestling winning numerous team titles, tournaments, and dual meets. We stress the basics of Wrestling, focusing on physical fitness and sportsmanship. Boys may compete on one of two teams based on ability.

The Town Team: Open to beginner and intermediate wrestlers in 2 nd-6th grade. This team is led by coaches Lofrese, Jarvis, and Barbato. They practice Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 - 7:45 starting December 5 th and ending the first week of March in the middle school cafeteria. The town team will attend local tournaments and participate in informal dual meets against other town teams. the cost this year will be $85 for the town team including t-shirt.

The Tournament Team: This competitive squad is for more advanced wrestlers up to the 10 th grade. The tournament team is coached by wrestling hall of famer Paul Gillespie and All-American wrestler Jon Masa. They practice Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 7:45-9:15 in the Middle School Cafeteria beginning 11/13 and ending 3/12. The tournament team participates in local and tri-state tournaments and the highly competitive Nassau-Suffolk dual meet league. The cost for the tournament team will be $350 which includes their USA Wrestling Card.
