On Sunday, October 1, the Thunder 9s traveled to Farmingdale to take on the Hawks. The weather cleared for the late afternoon game which was being playing on a new field turf facility at Allen Park. Led by the game day captains, Brian Goepfert, Nick "Tank" Gray and Jay McNamara, the Thunder were fired up to and ready to play football, so were the Hawks. The Thunder found themselves down 21-0 at the half but hung in there and held the Hawks in the second half while scoring on a run by Colin DeAngelo behind some outstanding blocking from the offensive line. The Thunder never gave up and won the 2nd half of the game and are ready to carry that momentum into their Friday night match up against their cross town rival, the Mineola Chiefs at 6pm at Community Park Pool field, come out and cheer the Thunder on!
