During the evenings of October 3 and 4, the surface of the parking field was milled and a binder coat was applied. On Tuesday evening, October 11th, weather permitting, the contractor will apply the final surface paving material. The entire parking field will be closed to all vehicles on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. Wednesday morning. GRANT APPLICATION - EMPIRE STATE DEVELOPMENT CORP. Last Thursday evening the Village Board of Trustees conducted a special meeting in order to hold a Public Hearing required in conjunction with the Village's grant application to the Empire State Development Corporation for the Historic Main Building at St. Paul's under the Restore New York Communities Initiative. The specific purpose of the hearing was the hear resident objections to including this site on the application property assessment list There were no negative comments and the Committee to Save St. Paul's communicated about the wisdom of the grant application. FIRE PREVENTION WEEK The annual observance of Fire Prevention Week in Garden City will be October 8 through 14 2006. All residents and friends are invited to attend the Annual Inspection and Open House on Sunday, October 15th at 12:00 p.m. The program will be conducted at Fire Headquarters and in the employee parking field, located on the west side of Village Hall on Stewart Avenue. Your Fire Department does an outstanding job to protect our lives and homes. Please stop by to show your support for them. I'm sure that your entire family will enjoy the program. VILLAGE OFFICES CLOSED - COLUMBUS DAY Village offices will be closed on Monday, October 9, 2006 in observance of Columbus Day and will reopen on Tuesday, October 10th. For your convenience, correspondence for the Village may be placed in the "Letter" drop slot at the front door. SANITATION COLLECTION There will be normal garbage and recycling pickup on Monday, October 9, 2006. Residences west of Rockaway Avenue will have their garbage collected on Monday and Thursday and those east of Rockaway will be collected on Tuesday and Friday. Rubbish will be collected on Wednesday. | |||||
