In Memoriam Stephen N. Pappas, a 36-year resident of Garden City, died on September 2, 2006 in Sarasota, FL, where he had retired in 1994. He was 82 years old. Mr. Pappas was an educator who had a positive influence on countless secondary and college students in the New York metro area. He served with distinction in the Pacific Theater of WWII as Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a devoted Mason, Shriner and member of the Greek Orthodox Church.Mr. Pappas was predeceased in 1987 by his first wife Jeanne. He is survived by his wife Anna, daughter Dr. Daphne P. Hobson, son Stephan Pappas and eight grandchildren: Jessica, Vanessa, Alexander, Margaux, Stefan, Tighe, Nikki (the first) and Nikki (the second). Arrangements were handled by Fairchild Sons Funeral Home in Garden City.
